To be honest, I’m not quite sure what to make of this story. It starts off well enough, but it left me scratching my head.Once the socks come alive, things take a turn for the strange. It’s a cute concept actually, and it would have been great if not for a few things. Along with the socks, everyone’s underwear starts coming alive too. When the book started talking about “sister’s panties with a little pink bow,” and “some lacy red undies that moved with mom’s wiggle,” things just felt awkward. I’m no prude, but this just seems odd for a children’s book.
Illustrations:
The artwork is cute, but I would have liked to see more uniformity. I don’t know if this was a formatting error or a mistake on the part of the artist, but the images are all slightly different in size.
Cover:
I’m no fan of Comic Sans, but the cover works well enough. I kind of wish the artist would have created an original cover – designed as a cover – rather than reusing artwork from the book. A better-designed cover would have made a big difference in text layout and visibility.

Well, this was an amusing story, though my nephew was puzzled as to why underwear was included. Regardless, it made him giggle.
Janet's book will tickle kids' imagination. I loved the way she tells the story. Rhymes are always fun!

I am not a rigid prude but I stopped at page 4. I personally did not feel comfortable reading about red lacy undies to young children. It felt so inappropriate.
I really want to like this book, but it kind of got awkward when I had to read to my son about his sisters dancing panties and mommy & daddy's underwear. If we could've just kept it at socks, I think it would've been perfect!
Love this imaginative story that surely will make children giggle and wonder What happens to MY clothes at night? Such a fun story with perfect rhythm to keep the story moving and adults and children engaged. Good book to help encourage children to use their imagination...a topic close to my own heart! This book rates a 'well done' to a grandmother who understands how important imagination for children really is!
As some reviewers said, I got awkward when underwears were included. The story would have been fine except for this. It's not just the undies but how they were described. A kid needs not know about his mother's lacy red underwear or his sister's underwear with a bow. That ruined the story for me.
This book is a fun romp. Children will get a kick out of the silly storyline. Illustrations are light and delightful matching the light and silly feel of the text. My concerns are two. One is the title talks about socks, but ends up talking about underwear, also. Not sure that was necessary...didn't seem to fit. Also, at some points in the story, when reading aloud, the rhymes and rhythm got "sticky" and were a bit off. Other than that a silly tale that kids will enjoy!
